Helpful betting sites

There are many betting sites out there online. Most are betting companies wanting you to place bets with them. There are however sites that are designed to help the punter with news of who is being cut in the markets and what you should keep an eye on.

The most helpful website i have ever come accross is http://www.rsssf.com/ this is a fantasic site that lists all this seasons results in every league in the world. It is a major resource for people wanting to view the form of teams, snd league tables. I use this site alot to try and find trends. Although it can be easy to get carried away and look at alot of minor leagues, its database on the big European leagues, England Spain Italy Germany is vast.

Other helpful sites with news and views are http://www.bettingzone.com/. This site has columnists who specialise in certain aspects in soccer betting whether it be asian handicap or foreign leagues. It also has the news on market movers and who is drifting in the betting. This though is only really helpful with outright markets like league winners. Bt this might be your thng so can prove useful. The site is also cleas and easy to find your way around, which is'nt always the case.

freeonlinebets.com is a site that reviews online bookies free bets. Bookmakers will give away free bets up to a certain value in an attempt to gain new customers. Some times these bets will be matched bets, which means they will match your bet up to a certain amount. This site reviews all the bookies free bets offers and rates them in order of best to worst. This is another site that can win you more money simply by taking advantage of the free bets the bookmakers offer.

Of course sites like www.bbc.co.uk/football can help with domestic team news. If there is a game i am interested in betting on i will look at that teams website and see if there are any injuries and how confident the players and manager are about getting a result by looking at what they are saying in interviews on the clubs site.

A good site to use if just starting out is http://www.betting-guide.com/ this has reviews of the terms used in bookmaking the best places to goto have a bet and specialist information from columnists about their area of expertise.

There are also a good number of betting books on placces like Amazon and waterstones. i can not really review these as i have never read any betting books, but by all means you can buy them or even go to yuor local library and ask to borrow a copy, they may prove useful.

Soccer tipping services

Soccer betting services like tipping services for me are a risky thing to get in to. For me if you dont know enough about soccer and cant come up with your own selections then why pay for a tipping service to give you their selections.

I have not used many tipping services. I trust the systems that i use to give me the selections to back. My main problem with a tipping service is that they charge you a monthly or yearly subscription charge. I personally feel they should give you a month free trial, and monitor how there selections do in that time.

But even that is dangerous. I was looking at tipping services a few years ago and came accross, www.footballelite.com, this site offered a free no obligation 30 day free trial. So i decided to take him up on his offer. The alarm bells should of started to ring straight away as he asked for my card details even though it was a free trial. But i rather stupidly gave my details.

After the 30 days without consulting me he took the subscription charge of £99.99 fir the year from my pay pal account. I had to open a dispute with him to try and get my money back.

The selections that this service gives are based on stats aquired over a number of seasons. They give between 4 and 6 selections per round of fixtures. These include European competition and European leagues. The selections though never took in to account recent form and relied alot on past performances from previous seasons. This for me was the let down of this tipping service, and the fact that he took my money without asking makes me wonder how many more people have fallen foul of this service, or indeed other services.

My main problem with tipping services is that anyone can proclaim themselves as a tipster. On ebay i recently did a search of tipping services and there are plenty on there that charge anything they want to send you an email tip or tips each week or round of fixtures. But anyone could do this, so my advice is to ignore these tipping services.

Although there are services that work. www.footballconfidential.co.uk is one that i have not used but seems to be getting good reviews. If you are wanting to use a tippping service then this is the one i would recommend

Trixie Betting

This is one of my favourite types of bet and if done right can win consistantly. A trixie bet is when you have 3 selections, and these selections are then placed on 3 doubles and a treble. So for example if you had one weekend a selection of Man united Chelsea and Liverpool all to win, and you placed it in a trixie bet, in essence your betting slip would be;

3 doubles
Man United and Chelsea
Man United and Liverpool
Liverpool and Chelsea
Finally your treble which of course is all 3 teams to win.

The best thing for me about this bet is that if one of the teams dont win then you wil still get your stake back providing the other 2 teams win. This is because you have hedged your bets with the double selections. llow me to explain, in the above example lets say Man United drew their game, but both Chelsea and Liverpool won. The treble would of lost as to would the doubles involving Man United. But because you had a double selection on Liverpool and Chelsea you should win your stake back on that double.

Now a word of warning, ther is no point backing teams that are long odds on in a trixie bet. If you did and one didint win you will probably not get ytour stake back. Dont back teams that are anything above 3/1 on in a trixie.

One system i used was to wait until the big 4 teams in England were away or at least 3 were playing away. If they were odds on away from home and this generally happens providing they are not playing another big 4 team then we have a bet. The good thing is when a top team is playing away, you will find that the teams are not long odds on, they are generally around the 8/11 upwards range. This will enable you towin your money back if 1 of your selections dont win.

Again i would recommend that you paper bet using this system first to get the hang of it and see if it works for you. When it comes to placing your trixie bet, online they are listed in the multiple bet options which can be found on the electronic slip. As for in the high street. Just write your selections then write trixie bet. This should be accepted. I fnot the shop assistant will most probably write th slip out correctly for you.

Yankie Bets

Yankie bets is a way of combining a number of selections normally 4 into 11 bets that consist of 6 double bets and 4 treble bets and finally an accumulator. You will need at least 2 selections to win in their respective games to get a return.

Personally i dont like or use Yankie betting. There are too many selections and the odds are not in your favour. Bookies love punters who take these bets on as they are unlikely to occur. If you are interested in yankie betting and can understand how they work, you might want to do paper betting for a few weeks and see how many times you win. If you find that you are good at it then progress to betting for real.

For those that dont knowe paper betting is when you just write down your selections but dont place the bet. This is used to get to grips with a certain system or to get used to a new way of betting.

It can sound complicated at first but for me the difficulty is in writing down the bet. If you do this bet in a shop then the staff can help you write it out. Basically the best way to write out a yankie slip is to write your selections on a betting slip and on most if not all online bookies on the slip it will have a multiple betting options link on the slip and when you press on the the yankie should be there. Select that and the bookie will sort the bet for you.

I would recommend that if you are interested in this type of bet to trial it first for a few weeks to get used to it. I f you feel comfortable with it and have won with it, then by all means progress to placing real bets. I have when first using this bet gone to a high street bookie and asked them how to fill in the slip for a yankie bet. This way i know what it should look like and therefore when i place a bet online i know how the slip should look. I recommend that you do the same.

So yankie betting will not be for everyone and it does require a few results to go in your favour before you win even a small amount back. Yankie betting s not for me, but that doesn't mean that it cant work fo you.

Betting rules

Soccer betting is now big business and there are numerous online and high street bookmakers that are eager for you to jump on the bandwagon and part with your money.

But while the industry continues to grow, so to do the number of people who try to cheat or beat the system. If you just type into a search engine soccer betting sysytems there are thousands of pages that will come up all with some kind of system. It is important to remember that there are rules in place with most if not all bookmakers that us as punters have to stick to, otherwise our accounts will be marked and possibly closed which could lead to you being banned from all online bookmakers.

Remember that if a system that you see advertised claims to be able to beat the system then it is probably a lie. Soccer is not an exact science. It is impossible to win 100% of the time. If this was the case then the bookies would all be out of business and there would be alot more rich punters around.

With more markets to bet on then ever before, there is to a rise in the amount of systems that crop up on the net. There are some rules that you should know and try to abide by;

Rule 1;
You are responsible for your own bets so when placing bets re read the slip before putting the bet on. This enables you to make sure that the bet is the one you want. It is easy to select a team that you didnt want to, especially online.

Rule 2;
Games are settled after normal time, extra time is not included to settle bets. Normal time includes stoppages at the end of 90 minutes but does not include extra time.

Rule 3;
Odds are likely to fluctuate the closer to the game you place your bet. This is due to the money that is placed on the game, forcing bookmakers to alter the odds. With this in mind it may be best to place your bet with a high street bookie on one of the fixed odds dockets as these are pretty much fixed odds that wont change prior to the game.

Rule 4;
The bookmakers decision is final. If they decide that you are doing to well or suspect you of using software to gain an unfair advantage, the bookies can refuse to take your bets and they may closed your account.

Rule5;
Always take a good look around a bookmakers website before opening an account. Look for the services it offers, like contacting them, forums or chat area, amount of markets you can bet on, the ease of using the site. How helpful it is. One thing i like to do when i find a new site is to contact them with a question like how quick are winning bets settled and see how long they take to get back to me. The longer they take the less reliable the site is.

Rule6;
Betting if you are serious about making money should be treated as a business, not as a little bit of fun you have on the weekend. Your betting bank is in essence your overheads. Try to treat each bet as an investment, and if your investment comes off then you will see a return on your investment, which would be your wonnings. Try to remember that not all investments will be winning investments

These are just rules that i do and may or may not help you. They are merely some pointers or thimgs to consider.

asian handicap betting

Asian handicap betting is a recent development in the soccer betting world. I am not sure if this works in any other sports but because this is a blog about soccer betting i will stick with that.

An asian handicap bet is when you give a team a certain number of goals start. For example if Chelsea were playing Fulham, you could give Fulham a goal start but then still back chelsea. This will improve the odds for a Chelsea win and thus making your returns better.

You can give a team more then a goal start if you so wish. In the above example if chelsea won 1-0 then your stake would be refunded. If Chelsea won by more then 1 goal then you win. In this example the draw is taken out of the equation. By this i mean that if the game itself ends in a draw because of the goal start Fulham received they would win this type bet. Of course you can always back Fulham to win with the goal start and then collect on that if it happens.

Another type of Asian handical bet to be aware of is the called the double handicap and simply put the wager in this case is split in two. So for the above example you might get Chelsea -1,-1.5 against Fulham +1,+1.5. In this example you are betting on 2 outcomes instead of just the 1 as in the above example. So if Chelsea won by 2 goals you would win the bet.

I like asian handicap betting and do use it alot. I think what puts people off is that it seems complicated with the numbers being given. But put simply its just backing a team you think will win and improving the odds by giving the opposing team a goal start or maybe more. You can of course go the other way and back the team you are giving the goal or goals start to.
Its also good to use in international football especailly the qualifiers for a major tournament, when you get the minnows playing the big nations. Arecent example of this is the England Kazakhstan gamethat ended 5-1 to England and giving Kazakhstan a 3 goal start the odds on England were alot better then the outrigh odds to win the game which was 50/1 on.

Thats all there is to it. Its a good way of improving your returns and winning more money.

Why soccer betting

Soccer betting has recently overtaken horse racing as the most popular sport for betting. Millions can be staked on football matches on any weekend and when there is a big game on like th FA cup final in the UK. Or when a country is playing a big international match at a major tournament like the World Cup.

Soccer betting also only has 3 outcomes so you have a 33% chance of selected the right result. This is not the case in many horse races where there are fields of anything from 3 up to 16 or even more. Although on the big races like The Grand National or the Kentucky Dertby in America huge amounts are staked on these.

Also today with the TV coverage that football attracts games are on at different times so that allows punters to have more different bets on different matches. For example in the UK we have games kicking off at lunchtime on a saturday then the 3 o clock games then teatime around 5.30. Then there are games on sunday. Add that to the games that are broadcast right around the world and there are a lot of times that punters can bet on live games.

I believe that soccer betting is more down to judgement then luck. More skill is involved. I fyou watch alot of football and know which teams ate playing well and were teams are in the table and know a teams ford then you can have a good shout of knowing which way a game is likely to go. Where in racing there are any number of variables that have to be taken in to consideration.

So if you are an avid football watcher, or follow a team you have a decent chance of winning at football beting. The problem arises because punters dont really have alot of money to risk or put on a team or teams to make a decent sum back. SO although you can win more often the returns might not be that great.
